Distressed submarine relocation
Accurate postionning system to locate a distressed submarine
Based on ALSEAMAR’s expertise in locating aircraft black boxes following an accident, ALSEAMAR proposes to fly out a suite of equipment along with a 3-man scout team. The GIB SUBSAR can be deployed from a fast patrol boat. Within a few hours of arrival in the search area, the DISSUB longitude and latitude is located to the nearest meter. DISSUB’s depth is measured using an echo-sounder. On arrival on site, a mothership goes into dynamic positioning mode right above the DISSUB coordinates provided by the GIB-SUBSAR system.
General principle
To save time, naval forces consider the accurate location of a DISSUB prior to the arrival of the MOSHIP on site to be a key success factor.
Based on its expertise in rapid black box location, ALSEAMAR proposes to fly out a suite of equipment to the accident site along with a 3-man scout team.
The ALSEAMAR equipment can be deployed from a fast patrol vessel or any convenient vessel mobilized from the nearest harbour.
Within a few hours of its arrival in the search area, the DISSUB longitude and latitude can be located to meter level accuracy. The depth is then measured using an echo-sounder.
Furthermore, an underwater mobile phone is used to communicate with the DISSUB’s crew to exchange information which is relayed to the SUBOPAUTH in real time.
On arrival on site, the MOSHIP goes into dynamic positioning mode over the DISSUB coordinates provided by the GIB-SUBSAR system
Key benefits
- Real time longitude & latitude tracking
- Very wide tracking area: up to 2 × 2 Nm
- Fast installation and deployment (< 1 h)
- No calibration
- High repetition rate and real-time Quality Control
- Long autonomy (many days)
